MELBOURNE 6 July 2010 - Australia's most prestigious sustainability awards, the Banksia Awards, are calling for community group entries for 2010.

The 2010 awards include eight categories that are open to community groups, with the additional incentive of a Banksia Community Grant Award for the group with the most potential to create a lasting and positive sustainability impact.

The successful community group will be awarded $10,000, provided by sponsors The GPT Group, as well as flights and two tickets to attend the Banksia Awards in Sydney Town Hall in October.

Executive director of the Banksia Environmental Foundation Graz van Egmond said, "Community action is critical in enhancing the local environment and quality of life, and there's huge potential for local solutions and innovation to grow and make a global impact."

"There's still time to get on board with the submission process and we will be hosting additional information sessions for those that need it," she continued.
Following an extensive judging process the award finalists will be announced on September 2nd, followed by the main awards ceremony to be held on October 15, 2010 at Sydney Town Hall.

Further details on the awards categories and submission process are available at www.banksiafdn.com.
