The Laminex Group has been a strong supporter of Banksia for many years and was in fact a winner of the 1997 Banksia Environmental Award for Resource Conservation and Waste Minimisation. This was awarded to the Gympie MDF manufacturing site for it’s zero discharge of wastewater policy.

The Laminex Group offers a range of products featuring strong environmental benefits, under the Greenfirst brand. Greenfirst makes it easier to create commercially viable green environments without losing any creative design flexibility. It was the first decorative product range developed to support the Green Star rating tool. The range delivers materials with high eco-preferred content and durability as well as lower emissions for better indoor air quality. The Greenfirst range was awarded the “Good Environmental Choice Australia” product label, which is Australia’s only independent full life cycle environmental label, another industry first.

Greenfirst continues to evolve as more products are certified by Good Environmental Choice Australia. The most recent products are Australia’s first FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified range of Timber Veneer Panels. These decorative panels were developed for the prestigious 6-Star Melbourne Convention Centre project. This innovation was recognized by FSC Australia with The Laminex Group being awarded the Large Chain of Custody Company of the Year in 2008.
