Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water NSW (DECCW) is delighted to be an affiliate of the Banksia Awards 2010 Leading in Sustainability Award - Setting the Standard for Large Organisations. Our sponsorship of the Leading in Sustainability Award - Setting the Standard for Large Organisations reflects our commitment to helping business and community efforts towards a more sustainable society. For example, our Sustainability Advantage Program partners medium and large organisations to strengthen their environmental performance and profitability. Sustainability Advantage partners use a simple management diagnostic to identify areas of their business which will benefit from environmental improvement. A component of Sustainability Advantage, the $20 million Sustainability Advantage Energy Saver program helps medium to large NSW businesses become more energy efficient and save significantly on electricity costs. The initiative builds on the Sustainability Advantage Program that has already helped more than 420 organisations save over 31,000 tonnes of carbon pollution in electricity and gas consumption and more than $13 million through improved resource and energy efficiencies. The Energy Efficiency for Small Business Program is available to businesses which spend up to about $20,000 a year on electricity or employ up to about 10 people. The Program offers an energy assessment, a tailored action plan and a subsidy of 50% of costs up to $5,000 for making energy efficiency improvements that save money and reduce our impact on the environment. By promoting sustainable business practices, DECCW seeks to achieve water, waste, energy use and financial savings. For more information about our work with business.
